Hurricane golf course gets private management
This is definitely a step in the right direction. But why do they not take it one step further, and sell the golf course? Why is government involved in golf courses in the first place? Why not grocery stores, oil change shops, hardware stores, coffee shops, and everything else? Why not? Because governments fail at running businesses. My guess is that most politicians are pretty well off, and would prefer to have the tax payers flip the bill so that the politicians can enjoy golf. I mean, how many people really go golfing? Why should everyone who does not golf have to subsidize those that do? I would challenge any study that would suggest that government provided golf courses are "better" for cities (i.e. that the cost is worth whatever benefit).
